One of the reasons I LOVE my blog is for the ability to look back at what I’ve been up to. And what better time than at the conclusion of an amazing year. Looking back, 2011 had a definite theme for me… TRAVEL! I’ve never in my life traveled as much as I did in 2011. And I loved every minute of it. The adventures, the pictures, the stories, the memories and most definitely the company. So now that all the travel for 2011 is done, lets take a look back :)
While not actually in 2011, it all started last year with a spontaneous trip to Nashville right before ringing in the new year…
December 2010:
While finishing off Christmas in Atlanta with my family, I was somehow persuaded to rent a car and drive up to Nashville to meet WBB for the UNC bowl game. Best decision I ever made. Then made it back to Chicago just in time to ring in the new year with some of my favorite people!
January:
Kansas City to visit my bestie AMW (last trip before her move to Chicago!). We renewed my love for the plaza, went to my first KU BBall game since graduating in 2004 and cheered on the Bears in their first playoffs game.
Wrapped up the month with a ski trip at Wisconsin Dells where we rented a cabin for the weekend.
February:
Made my first trip to North Carolina with WBB for a basketball game and weekend in Chapel Hill. So much fun! Think I can get used to spending some time here :)
During the second half of the month, my mom, sister and I had a girls weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona. We ate a lot. And I shopped a lot. Hopefully the first of many more!
March:
We road tripped to St. Louis to visit my college BFF’s and once again experience all that is STL Mardi Gras.
April:
WBB made his first trip to Omaha to meet my family and accompany me to my best friend since pre-school’s wedding! First of many trips back to good ole Nebraska!! Apparently didn’t blog anything of the wedding, but this one was from that day anyway!
May:
WBB and I embarked on our first vacation in Miami!! Tons of beach time, beach cocktails, great dinners and a fabulous tan!!
Almost forgot the trip that didn’t happen in May. I was supposed to run a half with AMW in Madison but at the last minute, maybe partially sparked by my sister finding out the she was PREGO!!!, we skipped the Madison trip and drove to Omaha to surprise my family. Best. Moment. Ever. Their reactions were priceless.
June:
Back to Omaha for the College World Series! First year at the new stadium.
July:
Spent the 4th at WBB’s lake house in Lake Norman, NC. Amazing weekend on the lake! Definitely was a good year for my tan as well.
August:
I was invited on the Beam family vacation in Holden Beach, NC. We spent 10 days laying on the beach. Ah-mazing.
While in Holden, decided to take advantage of being close and WBB and I made a road trip down to Charleston for a few days just the two of us. SUCH a cute city. So glad we did this.
After vacation, I made a weekend trip to Columbus, Ohio for KEG’s bachelorette party! Fun girls weekend and I got to see my bestie AMP!!!
August was a busy month, we rounded it off with another trip to Omaha to meet my new niece and celebrate the other’s 2nd birthday!
September:
Took advantage of WBB’s marathon work trip around the U.S. and had a long weekend in Los Angeles over Labor Day.
October:
Back to Columbus for KEL’s wedding! Beautiful bride, happy couple!
Back to Chapel Hill for a UNC-filled weekend! State fair, late night with Roy and football!
November:
Weekend in NYC and WBB’s best friend GL. Food, shopping, drinking. And lots of cool views. And one of the best parts, a quick visit/dinner with my college bestie LJL.
Thanksgiving was spent in Omaha this year. Lots of delicious food and WBB’s first Husker game! Also a delicious shower for my prego sister!!
December:
Final travel for the year was a whirlwind trip to NC and Omaha for Christmas with both of our families, and celebrating WBB’s birthday! Ate, saw lots of lights, and visited a few wineries! Couldn’t be happier to have been able to spend the whole holiday together and spend time with both of our families!
WHEW! If 2011 is any indication of what’s in store for 2012, there’s sure to be tons of happiness and even more travel :)
